What is a lookup?
A lookup is a completed, verified address returned to you. Lookups are what you buy; credits are the prepaid unit they are drawn from.
Two ways to look up an address
Both cost the same: 1 credit per completed lookup.
1. Autocomplete (typeahead)
A user starts typing and sees matching addresses as they go.
- Suggestions are free. Browsing the dropdown costs nothing.
- A credit is charged when you resolve the full address for a selected result (a
resolvecall by address key). - If nothing is selected, no credit is used.
- Retrieving suggestions without ever resolving is a rate-limit and fair-use matter, not a billing one.
Example: a user types β13 Jalanβ, sees 8 suggestions, selects one β 1 credit.
2. One-line lookup
Send an address line and receive the matched, verified address β ideal for forms and imports.
- A credit is charged when an input line returns a full match.
- No match is free β you only pay for verified addresses.
- Postcode and locality listings are free; resolving one of the returned candidates costs 1 credit.
