Data licences & attribution

Address results come from official national datasets, each with its own licence. If you display results from the API, you must display the wording below for the dataset used. Our Terms of Service make this a condition of use.

New Zealand — LINZ

Dataset: NZ Addresses, maintained by Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand (LINZ). Licence: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0).

The data has been adapted: normalised, indexed and served as an API, and joined with postcode information. Adapted material is provided under the same CC BY 4.0 licence. Licence text: creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0; source: data.linz.govt.nz.

Australia — G-NAF

Dataset: G-NAF Core, produced by Geoscape Australia with the state and territory governments. Licence: Open G-NAF Core End User Licence Agreement (EULA).

Incorporates or developed using G-NAF Core © Geoscape Australia, licensed under the Open G-NAF Core EULA.

One EULA condition applies to you as a user of results: address data must not be used to generate, or compile addresses for, sending mail unless each address has been verified as able to receive mail using a source other than G-NAF. Confirming an address with the person or organisation at that address counts.

Additional datasets (for example UK address data) will be listed here with their licence and required attribution when they are enabled. Each dataset’s terms apply to results from that dataset.
